“Perfect place for a fairytale wedding. Right from the start of planning our wedding, once we had secured that barcaldine castle was to be our venue Liz and Ronnie were so supportive and ensured that everything was exactly as we planned.
We live in the south of England so everything was organised by phone and email and we arrived to perfection. The castle is stunning and saying our vows in front of the roaring fire in the grand parlour was magical.
They had taken the time to organise the room beautifully and fresh flowers were everywhere.
We were lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day and the grounds were stunning for our photos. We had a party of 9 altogether and had champagne and canapés after the photos which far exceeded our expectations.
We stayed 2 nights in a room right and the top of the castle and it had its own little turret, even more magical for a wedding day! The finishing touches to the room are nothing but beautiful and the breakfast was truly scrumptious.
We would love to return one day not just to reminisce but also to say thank you once more. ”

Such an interesting place to stay. I loved exploring and looking for secret passages. A hearty breakfast was made to order and the staff was extremely accommodating! My room was cozy with a gorgeous view, yet somewhat eerie (what castle doesn’t have some history? )
It was the perfect setting for a small intimate wedding…and I can say “I stayed in a castle!”

“The best day of our lives – From our initial enquiries to our booking of the venue to our visit to the castle prior to our wedding, to the day of the wedding, to the day we checked out, Ronnie and Liz Alexander could not have been more helpful, caring, considerate, or understanding, and were fantastic hosts.
As we wanted a quiet, intimate, personal day we chose the castle based on your website, its location, and Sam’s connection to the local area. The whole ambiance of the place, when we visited initially, ticked all the boxes, and Ronnie and Liz’s personality and professionalism came across instantly. This gave us a huge reassurance that this was the venue we were looking for.
On the run up to the “big day” we obviously wanted to check everything, make sure everything was arranged, paid for and ready and Liz was fantastic in reassuring us (Sam in particular!!!) that everything would be fine.
From the second I arrived with my best man and was welcomed by Liz, to the moment Sam and I checked out as husband and wife EVERYTHING was fantastic, with Ronnie and Liz there in the background ensuring all that needed to be done was done, without us having to think about a thing, other than the fact we were marrying each other. This was exactly what we had hoped for, and we can’t thank them enough for that.
We stayed the night in the castle and the room was stunning, perfect luxury and peace. Breakfast the next morning was really good too and a great way to finish our stay.
We will be recommending, to everyone we know, how wonderful your location and staff made our day go.

“I just wanted to say we had a magnificent time, the wedding was wonderful, the castle was like a dream come true for Pete and myself and the hosts were absolutely fantastic and made our day and our stay at Barcaldine Castle a wonderful experience.
The castle was immaculate in every sense of the word, well looked after and presented. The rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy with lovely furnishings.
The enthusiasm and care which is taken by Liz and Ronnie in the running of such a beautiful castle is second to none. The food was exceptional. Their enjoyment in what they do is obvious to people such as Pete and I, which makes staying in a beautiful Castle, such as Barcaldine Castle, an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
